The English 145.13 Podcast Network is a production composed by students at Illinois State University. English 145.13: Writing for Business and Government Organizations is a writing program elective course in the English department, but is also a requirement for students who are enrolled in programs within the ISU College of Business. Enrollment for a single section of English 145.13 is capped at 18 students.
For this project, students in a single section of English 145.13 were grouped in teams of three and tasked with creating a podcast. Students were prompted to discover the intersections of the communities of which they are a member. They were not limited to business and government topics, but instead were encouraged to pursue their own interests and creativity thought the production process. English 145.13 is a genre studies course, and most writing program instructors who teach the course adapt a socio-cultural pedagogy. In English 145.13, students are introduced to and work within a variety of genres related to business and government writing from a socio-cultural perspective. The instructor for this course is Charles Woods (cfwood2@ilstu,edu). |
